Seriously? Are they THAT dumb? or they think that WE are dumb? or are they just too oblivious to the fact that their films are just plain rubbish and an insult to our intelligence? Especially those produced by this person who calls himself an Assoc. Prof.
I admit, there are films that are worth watching..for example; Cinta, and Mohsin. But those are just too few to even make any impact on our film industry.
Recently, while channel surfing with my housemates, a Malay drama caught our eyes. Cinta Medik. Yes. Medik. Something that has got to do with our lives since this series is about medical students, housemen, et cetera. We expected it to be something that we all can relate to....but damn, we were so wrong. The drama is nothing but utter rubbish. They claimed that the drama is supposed to educate the people about medical stuff so that people can understand better about medicine (something like House or Grey's Anatomy) but it was just brainless. To point one of their many mistakes, there was this line said by the 'lecturer' to a 'medical student'..
"Dia seorang pakar bedah yang hebat menggunakan pisaunya" Firstly, we don't even talk like that..i still can't understand why ALL malay movies and drama still use full sentences..it is so not natural! who talks like that in real life? and secondly, it's not PISAU...we call it scalpel or SKAPEL in BM.
Another mistake was, if in real life, in Malaysia, us, medical student, can't be a lecturer straight after we graduate. We have to go through housemanship for a year or so, and another 3 years of practice in the government hospital (who doesn't know that? At least a 'Professor' ought to know...) . But in that stupid Cinta Medik, one of the students (one of the main casts) were offered a place in a college as an Assoc Prof. (?!?!)
If we ask anyone, just anyone and everyone, even kids, about where do we put the defibrillator on human body, they'll know. They ALL will say on the chest. But guess what? In that drama, the 'specialist' put the defibrillator on the patient's abdomen and upper thigh each. Yeah. That's where the heart is.
DON'T get me started on the lack of ethical practice and the unrealistic cases (c'mon, someone who needs kidney transplant won't be running around in shopping mall, play bowling and look healthy. At least they shouldve put some makeup to make the 'patient' look pale and sallow). If they really want to educate people, do it properly. Don't insult their intelligence. Do some research before you produce any series so that you'll get everything right. Those people in Hollywood, they do a lot of research before they actually do anything. The actors will be sent to study and observe the real stuff. That's why the end result is great. Don't tell me that our actors are too busy and they have no time to do all that. Bull.
But come to think of it, the producer who produced this series is the same person who produced Nana Tanjung, Mami Jarum, and all those slapstick type of films. Don't ask us why we won't watch your films and TV series. Ask yourself, Prof.
And to quote one of my medicine lecturer;
"You are rubbish. You have no grey matter."
Harsh. But someone has to say it.
p/s : I have nothing against those quality movies and Malaysia's entertainment industry. I just found it appalling that they think they can just produce something for the sake of producing and get profit to thicken their wallet.
Again,, please don't insult our intelligence and feed us with junks like that.
