Exams and lilies.

The written paper on Monday was tough. I don't know what went wrong, I couldn't think of any differential diagnoses for both cases. MCQ was pretty easy though..twas exactly like past years questions. I think I did ok...hope it'll help =)
When I returned home from college (with a bad mood due to the horrible paper), I received a pleasant surprise...=) as I entered my house, I saw..there it was..on the sofa, sitting handsomely, my big bouquet of white lilies from my cinta =D his timing is always perfect..it is as though he knows exactly when my mood will go cookoo and he always know how to cheer me up. He's great. I know.. =D

Tuesday. My first ever clinical examination. It was scaaaaryyy... I practiced my clinical techniques and skills the night before with my house mates and well, let's just say it didn't come in handy..hehe..actually the exam was ok cause Dr.Raj (my examiner, he's the cardiovascular guru) gave me a simple case and he didn't ask me to do the whole general examination thing. He asked me to just check the chest expansion and then we discussed about pleural effusion (some lung problem)..and that was it. I have completed my clinical examination. Pretty cool eh? hehe..
Luckily I didn't get this female doctor (whose name I will not mention here)..every girl who had her as the examiner came out from the ward crying..and every guy came out red-faced. She's horrible I tell ya..she'll psych you out and tells you that you're dumb, stupid, rubbish..and everything in between. She hates Malaysians (She's Burmese) and keeps on saying how "rubbish" the Malaysian education system is. No body listens to her though. I went to her class once before and twas HORRIFYING !! am not gonna go to any of her classes again.

I really can't believe I've actually completed my first clinical posting.

Next up,
Obstetrics and Gynaecology..where everything is soft and pink =p.

Here I come, Taiping! =)

2-oh-oh-6

2006...the year that was full with surprises...the year that has thought me many many life lessons..

That was the year where I have lost love...and completely lost my faith to love again..but it wasn't for long..I met someone who gave me back that faith and he showed me how to love again. I don't think I could ever be my old self again if it wasn't for him. He listened, he gave me strength, he believed in me..he's my pillar..my wonderwall.

That was the year where I got to know who my real friends are. The friends who will always be by my side no matter what. The friends who knew better. Those are the friends I'll cherish and keep for the rest of my life...no need for any names to be mentioned here..you guys know who you are..I learn that you can never know who your real friends are until you face a life-turning experience and see who sticks by your side. I have a pretty good support system I must say..=)

That was also the year I worked the hardest. I struggled my way through 2nd year in medical school and Alhamdulillah I got through and I'm in clinical year now. I've never worked that hard in my whole life before...not even for SPM..=p

That was also the year where my family got a real scare. When my father had a heart attack. Fortunately it's a mild one. And now he has been diagnosed with abdominal aorta aneurysm..it's a disease that requires surgery but he will only undergo the surgery if the aneurysm gets bigger. So far he's doing alright even though now he's not as strong as before (he's in denial..he tells everyone that he's as healthy as a horse..bleah~ =p) and he has quit smoking, finally.

All in all, 2006 was a pretty good year.
I wonder what 2007 has in store for me. Surprise me, 2007! =)
Resolutions? Well...same old same old..Study more, party more, eat more, exercise more, listen more, understand more, love more.

Why can't I get the engine to start?

I really really need to start studying. I've been slacking for quite some time now. My end-of-posting exam is next week n I havent even started. Yeah..I know...I am the king of all procrastinators. I guess because I realized how little the percentage for this exam is, I developed this "so-what-if-I-don't-get-good-grade-for-this-one" attitude. Tsk tsk.Bad.I know.

Lemme explain how exactly my 3rd year examination and grading system works..

We have 5 postings to complete..which are:
medicine
obstetrics & gynaecology
primary care medicine
surgery
pediatrics
Since medicine is so wide and there's a lot of things to learn, we have 2 rounds of medicine postings. We'll be posted 2 months in each field and every 2 months there will be an exam. We will also have a Public Health paper and they (the UM people) will accumulate all these marks and add it up with the final paper which I will be sitting for in December this year.

See..now you know why I'm lazy.
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy studying, I enjoy learning about medicine, I enjoy going for ward rounds and bedside teaching, I enjoy clerking cases. I just don't like examinations. Period.
