Panic Attack

Tomorrow is the exam day.
I almost had a panic attack..I just realized just how much more I have to read..But screw it lah..I'll just do the past years questions since from my experiences for my medicine and OBGYN end of posting exams, they actually recycle the questions...hopefully they'll do the same for my surgery exam!
I had an awesome lunch today...Went out for lunch with Adan's parents, Nana (his youngest sister), his Ayah Lang, the cool Mak Lang, and their two kids, Arshad and the adorable Alisha. His parents are here for the weekend cause they're going to attend a wedding here...and they actually spent some time and visited me today! Sgtlah sweet..=) I dragged Saadah (my housemate) along for lunch with them since only both of us are here in Ipoh this weekend (the rest went back to KL). The family is uber sweet and funny...we had ikan bakar and sambal udang and etc..yummy!! =)
Ok...gotta study..wish me luck, peeps! Takuttttttttt...

My royal encounter

I met the Sultan and Sultanah of Perak today..hehe
This morning was my college's open day and also the official launching of the college after it has been re-named to Royal College of Medicine Perak (previously it was Perak College of Medicine)...and being a Royal College it only make sense if the royal family members come to the college and launch it themselves. I was looking forward to see the newly wed Raja Muda Perak Raja Nazrin (owhh..the handsome prince of Perak) and his beautiful wife but they canceled at the last minute. Prolly off for honeymoon or something..Sultan and Sultanah of Perak were there and so was Raja DiHilir Perak.
At first I thought this whole perasmian thing and all the protocols are gonna bore me to death but hell, was I wrong. Ummu and I..well, we were being us...we went to the clinical skills lab where the exhibition was to bug Didi and some other friends of ours..we were not supposed to be there at that time since the Sultan will come and visit the place in 10mins and only the presenters were allowed to be there. We thought of going there only for a little while..but after a few minutes we were there, the room was quarantined and no one can go in or out cause the Sultan was already on his way up..so Ummu and I had no choice but to just pretend to be one of the presenters..hehe..we joined Taufiq and Alwi's counter cause it was the easiest presentation ('How to take blood pressure'..haha). When the Sultan came, Ummu and I tried our best to hide cause we weren't prepared to explain to him about anything and we don't even know how to angkat sembah..see..Didi and I were hiding behind Taufiq in this photo..hahaha..and just look at Ummu's(pink tudung) and Farah's(blue tudung) face...they were about to laugh..hehe=p the Sultan is a funny man..he made a few funny remarks about the CPR dummy and about the ECG machine..maybe being a royalty and all the protocols does not make him uptight after all..
After checking out the presentations, the Sultan (I don't know how else to address him here..His Majesty? His Royal Highness?) went to the foyer for picture taking session. They took a few formal photos with him and after they were done, Sultan asked his royal photographer (?? is that what we call his personal photographer?) to take some informal photos of him and the students..hehe..Mesra rakyat gitu..haha
All the male college staffs (including the lecturers) wore black suits with songkok while the ladies wore matching baju kurung. Here's a photo with my surgery lecturers..Mr. Wong (Surgeon..btw, we address surgeons as Mr. not Dr...don't ask me why) and Dato' Subra (Plastic Surgeon)..hehe..it was funny to see how awkward they look with songkok on..awkward but cute eh..=)

So I Think I Can Hustle

Well, well, well. The previous entry was rather sad and gloomy. I'm no longer in that mood..currently I'm stressing out because I'll be sitting for my end of posting exam next week. Even though I have exams every two months, I'm still not used to it. I still procrastinate and not study til the very last minute, and freak out the night before the exam. Bleah~ Btw, I'll prolly elaborate more on my last entry later..hehe
The other YKJ group (YKJ stands for Yeoh Khuan Joo...the name of the street where our houses are situated) joined a line dance class every Sunday, since last month and they asked us (my housemates and I) to join the class as well...and we did! ok..they did..I didn't. At least not yet..hehe..the class will be held every Sunday morning at 7.30 AM..theehee..exactly. Even though I've never been to the classes before, I've learn the steps from Ummu and it was easy! I've learnt how to chacha, twist, and do a cowboy hustle..cool ey? Ummu and Rinni are such great dancers, they can do that Shakira's famous hips movement..you know..like the one in her vid Hips Don't Lie..*jealous* =) As much as I love doing those line dance stuff..the dance that I really would like to learn is salsa..it is such a romantic, beautiful-almost-dirty type of dance...sigh...just when oh when will I have the time to learn it...
I was chatting with my younger sister last night and she told me her great news. She has been chosen to receive a scholarship from Mara to further her studies in US of A. She's gonna take up actuarial science, just like my elder sister, Hanim. I'm so happy for her...she has been worrying about what she's gonna do next and where she's going. Her SPM results was fantabulous but she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has applied for everything under the sun..filled up every form she can get her hands on, just to make sure she wouldn't miss out on anything. So far, she has been offered to do matriculation in Melaka and also Economics in UIA. She rejected KMM and was thinking of going to UIA but she has some reservations about it. Farah was so worried that she might not get Mara scholarship, she was even considering to apply for MAS scholarship and become a pilot girl. Huhu..hard to imagine..But Alhamdulillah, now she has nothing to worry about..=) and to Farah (If you're reading lah) : Congrats, sis..Make us proud. You know what happen to those people..don't become like them, ok? You know what I'm talking about kan...Me love you. =)

Have you ever...

Have you ever felt lonely yet you were surrounded by people?
I have.
Why? Beats me...I don't know..I have mix feelings right now. About what? I don't know either.
Talking to him and watching downloaded series are keeping me sane currently.
I need to get away from everything.
Quick.

Time...it flies

I was browsing through my old photos...and man! I can't believe how everyone has changed..it seems like it was just yesterday we were still in school, skipping classes to do some rumah sukan work, cheerleading practices, weekly lunch and movie at OU, BBQ at Didi's aunty's house in Hulu Langat, etc. Everyone look so amazing now (not that they weren't before..hehe) and as time passes by, all of us have evolved and become more and more like adults now...I can actually see how much more mature we've all become..
It's sad (and sucks) that now all of us are studying far far far away from each other and some might have drifted apart..but we do make a point to see each other at least during the summer holidays or whenever we're free even though keeping in touch is simply hard since everyone's timetable is crazeeeee!!
Let's see how we've evolved so far for the past 4 years...not just the girls..they guys too!! hehe

Intensive Mandarin

Phew...
It was indeed a tiring day for me today...but a productive one, I must say.
I had a seminar presentation this morning whereby I had to present the topic "Burns" in front of my classmates (which wasn't a big deal) and also in front of the one an only burn specialist in Perak, Mr.YK Lim (which was a huge deal). It was scary at first...but it went on quite well after that. I came back home and managed to catch up with some sleep...haven't had enough sleep these past few days...had lunch but I didn't finish it..couldn't push the food in...I'm so sick of having the same thing over and over again everyday for my lunch..if nak masak, it's either tak sempat since I have class in the afternoon or my laziness got the best out of me...hehe
And the big new of the day is...I've joined Intensive Mandarin Class!! hehe...the lao she is non other than Sim Su Tein..haha..my own classmate...Su Tein and another few chinese students organized a mandarin class for those who can't speak Mandarin and have trouble communicating with Chinese patients and are willing to spend some time learning mandarin intensively...we only have to pay RM5 for each class and the class is only once a week...not bad, ey? Su Tein is such a good teacher, she even achieved the almost impossible thing, that is, BK is now able to pronounce the word xiao..hehe =p People has always mistaken me as a Chinese...can't wait til I'm able to speak in full sentences...then, I'll just play along...hehe
Btw, my crash diet is out of the window...My housemates and I went to McD's for dinner and I had medium value meal (not telling...so go figure)...and a sundae...dang! I really wanna loose a few kilos...3kg would be great...I realized I've gained a few more kilos when I couldn't fit into a few jeans...ugh~

Happy Mother's Day!

Went back to PJ last weekend and of course, it was great. It was a mother's day weekend, so obviously I've spent a lot of time with Mama. We went shopping (fun!!! more please, ma...) and I paid for our lunch..hehe..that's the only thing I "gave" Mama for her day...she has warned me earlier on that she doesn't want any presents (she told me this since the day I can remember)
Because of the little cupcakes fever going around now, Farah has made her first attempt making those little cuppies and heck, it turned out delicious and gorgeous, even tho' the butter icing tasted like cheap cake icing (there's always room for improvements) it was totally edible..hehe..
Hudaa had a birthday party on Sunday night and we (Dalia, Zaza, and I) went. I totally forgot to get her something for her birthday but luckily Dalia didn't...she bought those little cupcakes (told u there's a fever going around!)..and me, being so tak malu, asked if she wants to share it with me..hehe..=p sorry Dots, and thanx...ehehe...next time I buat cupcakes, I'll give u some k..=)
Owhhh..and I've experienced the whole internet shopping frenzy..hehe..not really la actually..a friend of mine has an online boutique...and while I was browsing through, I saw a gorgeous high waisted skirt, and it's cheap too! I ordered through e-mail...and she passed the skirt to Farah (who was working at Beach in OU). I gave Farah the money to pass it to her...so I guess that has made it not qualified as internet shopping kot..hehe...
This is the skirt..nice kan? Hehe..
Well, now I'm back in Ipoh...and in 2 weeks' time I'll be sitting for my end of posting exam...
Gotta study...
Chayok chayok! =p

Shoe Sucker

"A woman with good shoes is never ugly." - Coco Chanel
To celebrate it's 50th year, Chanel has re-released these gorgeous, never out of style, two-tone shoes and now I'm drooling over it. Hmmm..perhaps it is worth the $628 price tag.

Anyway, I've discovered the existence of this website and now I'm addicted to it..the site has endless(almost) beautiful collections of heels, sandals, flats and even a list of ugly shoes, and me, being a sucker for shoes, I want it all..ALL!! hehe...except the ugly ones, of course
Go check it out if you're a shoe addict yourself =)

Nothing In This World...

...is more interesting this morning than the news that Paris Hilton is sentenced to jail for 45 days, which she will begin serving on June 5th.
Hmm...the mind boggling question is, is this another misdemeanor of a spoiled bimbo-ish heiress, or a brilliant marketing stunt by a woman plotting to get a front cover headline and gain more popularity? We all know what these Hollywood stars are willing to do just to gain their popularity. Or, maybe, this is just a ploy to coordinate her jail time to coincide with her former frenemy and reality TV co-star, and for all we know it is just a shooting for the up-and-coming new episode of simple life. But seriously, do you really think that she'll just let it happen, sulk, do absolutely nothing about it and just complete the 45 days in the 12 x 4, TV-less, Blackberry-less, and Juicy Couture-less cell?
Yeah. I don't think so too.
As awesome as that would be, it'll never happen. She will, as she always does, use Grandpa's cash to sweep this under the Hilton rug.
No. I don't hate her and I'm not a fan either. I just think that she's really entertaining and fun to watch. And she really is a trendsetter...she brought back jelly shoes as the 'in' thing for goodness's sake..let's give her the credit for that..and, she's also the pioneer for that chihuahua-in-a-bag thing among the hollywoodsters. Plus, who else dared to declare him or herself (+ her family according to her) as the USA royal family and got away with it? No one else but that girl who is about to put on the hideous orange jumpsuit.

I feel like singing..lalala

It has been a good day today.
It was my turn to present for seminar today (GastroIntestinal Bleeding) and I did OK..Mr.Wong gave us (me + Puteri and Alwi) 7/10..Well, he did point out that some of my facts are outdated and there are new procedures and techniques and bla bla bla..but sorry lah...I got my references from my surgery text book (latest edition-2002..=p)..not New Scientist or the latest medical journal...
Again, my fear for Neurology forced me to skip another neuro bedside teaching session..hehe..I freakin' suck at that chapter..the brain scares the hell out of me..so complicated..so susah!!! Don't know when I'll start studying that chapter..but I've promised myself that I'll at least finish up Neurosurgery (+neuroanatomy) by the end of Surgical posting..*fingers crossed*
After lunch I went to the hospital to clerk a case for tomorrow's bedside teaching with Dato' Subra and I got a really interesting case with a really good finding. I clerked a stage IV breast cancer patient. The signs and symptoms she has are just like in the books. Dato' will be happy and excited to discuss about this case since he has been asking us to find a good breast CA. case for weeks and by "good", he meant a case with findings..since most of the cases we've clerked before are mostly post-operation.
I also went to see my dermatologist and, yay! I'm off Roaccutane!! (Roaccutane is a last line acne medication and has many many many side effects)..and now I'm on Retin.A..a less dangerous drug. She also said that she's planning to do skin peeling for me so that my ugly and horrifying scars will become less visible and my skin tone will become even. No more red spots..huhu..can't wait to start the treatment!
After seeing dermatologist, Saadah, Isma and I went to Kinta City to watch Spiderman 3. The movie was quite good...not great..just good. Too many villains and slightly draggy..but Harry is still as handsome as ever..and Spiderman is still as short and tubby as ever..and MJ is still as whatever as ever.
The best part of my day today was...
When I got home from the movie, and..there was another bouquet for me!!! Did I not tell you that he deserves the "best boyfriend" award? This time it's not white lilies or pink roses...it is a bouquet made out of 24 scrumptious Fererro Rochers and the bouquet is beautifully wrapped with gold and deep brown wrappers. Sigh, he is unbelievable and amazing. *in cloud nine*

Btw, I'm thinking of changing my hairdo...maybe some soft curls..hmm..what say you?
