I want to whine. Let me be.

We're still in the first half of November and currently I've spent almost half of my monthly allowance on food. I've been under a lot of stress due to my up and coming final exam, and as always, I channel the stress to comfort food. And as the result of sitting on the chair and munching away the whole day, I've added the diameter of my love handles and a bigger hips to match. Need to lose the weight after the exams or I can kiss all my jeans buhbye.
At times like this I need Yusma...my kawan makan, kawan study paling best, kawan paling memahami =(
I know in my previous post I said "I'm loving the stress" Yes, stress is good, but too much of it, well, not good.
I just can't believe how fast time passed by..I'll be done with my fourth year in 2 weeks time (InsyaAllah if everything goes well)...
What oh what have I been doing all these while? Been playing a fool and tak study...and as the result of that, now I'm struggling to cram and jam everything into my brain. Padan muka. And to make things worse, things do not seem like they can get through this thick skull of mine.
I still have Medicine, Surgery, Paeds, O&G, Primary Care, Forensic, and Public Health to study.
Not forgetting OSCE and long case! That's a whole loads of things to read!
Shit.

Thought to self: Ok ok...I won't give up on me just yet. I still have a week to revise. Chayok chayok! Berusahalah!

End of 2007 season

F1 2007 Grand Prix has ended moments ago and Kimi Raikonnen has been crowned as the F1 world champion at Brazil Grand Prix. About time! After years of trying! I've been rooting for him since he was driving for Sauber Petronas. *Pink cheeks, piercing blue eyes....C'mon!! haha*
This year's season was kinda boring. I've always thought it'll be exciting to watch after M. Schummie left and now everyone has equal chance to win. Prolly because I've been busy most part of the season, or maybe because there were just too many issues and dramas with F1, my interest kinda faded away. I've been an avid fan of F1 since high school and been following almost every race on TV.
The biggest surprise this year was Hamilton. A prodigy rookie driver. I was so sure that he'll be the champion; judging by his performance throughout this season. I guess luck wasn't on his side today and I'm sure McLaren's regretting their decision 2 weeks ago in China. They could've easily earned at least 5 more points during that race but no, they decided to pull Hamilton out of the race. And today, the situation turned 360 degrees and Hamilton missed his chance to make history. Never mind kid, do it all over again next season. Better luck next time! =)
M looking forward for next year's season. Should be interesting...I'm sure Hamilton push himself and give a tougher fight and Kimi would want to win and keep his title. Not forgetting the angry Alonso and the pitiful Massa. Don't u think?

Cheap Steak

It was supposed to be a celebration for Amrit's birthday only.
But somehow, friends decided to celebrate all August and October babies; hence, I got another birthday celebration....! hehe
A whole bunch of us went to MP last night for buka puasa and to celebrate birthdays..The food was really good and the price is dirt cheap. I had a huge, finger lickin' good grilled black pepper steak for only RM 14!! Hehe
Didi, Saadah and I had to leave early as we were having a study group session at 930pm. The three of us alongside Ash and Midi decided to form a study group and we've been having sessions since 2 weeks ago. It's almost impossible to study medicine on your own...there's just too much to read and too many things to know. So far everything has been great. I've studied a lot more compared to when I study on my own. Our 3rd professional paper is on 19th of November...I guess it's about time for me to take uni seriously, ey?

No Beyonce

Beyonce cancels Malaysia show

KUALA LUMPUR: R&B star Beyonce Knowles has scrapped plans to stage her first concert in Malaysia amid speculation she objected to a strict dress code barring sexy attire, industry officials said Monday.

Knowles will instead head for neighbouring Indonesia, which although also Muslim has less stringent rules about how performers should dress and behave.

Knowles' Los Angeles-based talent agency, International Creative Management, said her Nov 1 date with Kuala Lumpur had to be broken “due to a scheduling conflict,'' according to an ICM statement made available by Malaysian entertainment organisers Pineapple Concerts.

The announcement followed recent speculation that Knowles, famous for her sexy image and skimpy outfits, was reluctant to fulfil the Malaysian government's demand for female performers to cover up from the top of their chests to their knees, including their shoulders.

“It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of The Beyonce Experience World Tour in Kuala Lumpur,'' the ICM statement said.

“It was to mark the very first time the performer would bring her show to Malaysia.''

Knowles will perform in Jakarta instead on Nov 1, the statement said, adding that Knowles “is looking forward to performing for all her fans in Kuala Lumpur in the near future.''

Pineapple Concerts chairman Razlan Ahmad Razali said his company, which has brought Western acts such as Kanye West and Earth, Wind and Fire to Malaysia, was “disappointed and frustrated.''

Razlan declined to comment on the rumours that Knowles balked at Malaysia's decency code. However, he noted that besides Indonesia, Knowles is now slated to travel over the next month to many other Asian countries, including Thailand, China and India. – AP

Educating the people? I don't think so.

Here, there and everywhere in Malaysia we hear people from the entertainment business asking (more like begging) us to support Malaysian movies and dramas. They often claim that they can't understand why we are willing to spend our hard-earned money to watch movies from other countries but not those produced by the Malaysians.
Seriously? Are they THAT dumb? or they think that WE are dumb? or are they just too oblivious to the fact that their films are just plain rubbish and an insult to our intelligence? Especially those produced by this person who calls himself an Assoc. Prof.
I admit, there are films that are worth watching..for example; Cinta, and Mohsin. But those are just too few to even make any impact on our film industry.
Recently, while channel surfing with my housemates, a Malay drama caught our eyes. Cinta Medik. Yes. Medik. Something that has got to do with our lives since this series is about medical students, housemen, et cetera. We expected it to be something that we all can relate to....but damn, we were so wrong. The drama is nothing but utter rubbish. They claimed that the drama is supposed to educate the people about medical stuff so that people can understand better about medicine (something like House or Grey's Anatomy) but it was just brainless. To point one of their many mistakes, there was this line said by the 'lecturer' to a 'medical student'..
"Dia seorang pakar bedah yang hebat menggunakan pisaunya" Firstly, we don't even talk like that..i still can't understand why ALL malay movies and drama still use full sentences..it is so not natural! who talks like that in real life? and secondly, it's not PISAU...we call it scalpel or SKAPEL in BM.
Another mistake was, if in real life, in Malaysia, us, medical student, can't be a lecturer straight after we graduate. We have to go through housemanship for a year or so, and another 3 years of practice in the government hospital (who doesn't know that? At least a 'Professor' ought to know...) . But in that stupid Cinta Medik, one of the students (one of the main casts) were offered a place in a college as an Assoc Prof. (?!?!)
If we ask anyone, just anyone and everyone, even kids, about where do we put the defibrillator on human body, they'll know. They ALL will say on the chest. But guess what? In that drama, the 'specialist' put the defibrillator on the patient's abdomen and upper thigh each. Yeah. That's where the heart is.
DON'T get me started on the lack of ethical practice and the unrealistic cases (c'mon, someone who needs kidney transplant won't be running around in shopping mall, play bowling and look healthy. At least they shouldve put some makeup to make the 'patient' look pale and sallow). If they really want to educate people, do it properly. Don't insult their intelligence. Do some research before you produce any series so that you'll get everything right. Those people in Hollywood, they do a lot of research before they actually do anything. The actors will be sent to study and observe the real stuff. That's why the end result is great. Don't tell me that our actors are too busy and they have no time to do all that. Bull.
But come to think of it, the producer who produced this series is the same person who produced Nana Tanjung, Mami Jarum, and all those slapstick type of films. Don't ask us why we won't watch your films and TV series. Ask yourself, Prof.
And to quote one of my medicine lecturer;
"You are rubbish. You have no grey matter."
Harsh. But someone has to say it.

p/s : I have nothing against those quality movies and Malaysia's entertainment industry. I just found it appalling that they think they can just produce something for the sake of producing and get profit to thicken their wallet.
Again,, please don't insult our intelligence and feed us with junks like that.
