Things People Say. Things I say.

Age is just a number.
No, it is not just a number. It is so disrespectful in my opinion to disregard one's age. Your age shows how much your experiences you have, what you've gone through in life. It shows your wisdom. It shows who you are; and by using the phrase as an excuse it is so distasteful.

Beauty is skin deep.
Nonsense. Isn't first impression everything? That's why people like Betty Suarez has to prove themselves all the time. That's how human thinks. That's how human works. We like beautiful things. Period.

Actions speak louder than words.
Actions lie louder than words. Everybody pretends.

Time will change everything
Things won't change. We change.

Money can't buy happiness.
Says who? It can certainly help. Retail therapy is happiness, isn't it?

Love is a powerful emotion.
Love is not an emotion. It's an ability.

Make it work.

Too too too much time wasted.
Gotta focus.
Gotta put my energy and concentrations on something more worthwhile.
Which is definitely not this.

Miss, Missing, Missed.

At times like this is actually when the feeling of regret and frustrations overcome other emotions in me. At times like this is when the ugly reality hit me. My social life is long gone. I've missed numerous occasions with my girlfriends. I've missed tons of family gatherings.
And today, I am actually missing out seeing and watching Colbie Caillat live at The Curve.
I am skipping Sunburst...well, not that I was dying to go...but the thought of "not going" overpowers everything.
I've missed BSB (I wanted to go to their concert to give a 'proper' goodbye to one of my many phases in life...haha)
And I know, I'm gonna miss that bluhdy Celine Dion concert too.
What else will I be missing? Ugh.
This sucks.
And this is only just the beginning.
HELP!

The Verdicts Are In.

Wow.
Two thirds majority denied. The newspapers called it "Political Tsunami".
Malaysians are gutsy. Or maybe, most are just plain fed-up and desperate for change. They should have seen it coming anyway. It really is self-inflicted.
I'm just excited to see whatever "plans and progress" they have in store for us.
Now, no one can ever question about SPR's integrity anymore. All of them need to prove themselves to Malaysians, both BN and the Opposition. And for some, they really need to start listening to 'The Experienced One'.

Election Fever

I'm 23 years old this year and by right I am eligible to vote, but well, being an ignorant young adult, I am not a registered voter, hence, I can't shove that piece of paper in that black ballot box. I know I SHOULD be voting and like Dato' Gurdeep said, I'm just being stupid.
I've never been a big fan of politics and I dread every time (this is the 3rd time mind you) they announce that general election will be held soon. This is because, for me, I think the Malaysian general election will just bring out the worst in people. There's no maturity to it, no freedom of speech, certainly unfair and unequal television and radio air time given between parties, and just plain dirty. Also, there will be all three kind of fights between the two (gov and opp), verbally, mentally and of course physically. But this year, to my surprise (and thank God for that), the campaign has been a quiet one without any physical fights.
But before I say anything further, lemme just make it clear to everyone that I'm neither rooting for the government nor the oppositions. I'm just writing my 2 cents worth.
I do read newspapers may it be online or the real ones. I do have "serious and intelectual" discussion with my father about current issues. Heck, I even watch democratic debates on YouTube.com with Adan. But what I can honestly and bluntly say here is that, I know Barack Obama more than I know the Assemblyman (I don't know his name..never met him, never seen him on TV but I would love to know who he is...) who is supposedly represent our people. With 6 free television channels, a hundred more with Astro, numerous radio stations, many many publications, why can't there be more talk and debates especially about their mandates and stuff? By debate I meant the real, intellectual and mature ones. Not the punching and throwing chairs ones. These are the channels they should be using to reach to people and maybe discuss with people and let the people choose what's best for them. There's never an open discussion and many are left not knowing anything. All I can see on TV are just ill-looking advertisement, or the clips where the wakil rakyat "melawat" kawasan. Never I've seen about explanation what they are all about, and what they have to offer.
Well, I guess, if I was voting this year, I would have chose the "safe" one (not mentioning names, undi adalah rahsia =p). But come to think of it, I think if I could vote, I would vote for the one who will clean up the mess they've made during campaining. The hideous banners and posters...omg, someone should clean the mess up and make Malaysia pretty again. Let's not expect the rain and the sun to wash and dry everything up.
Anyway, this is just my ramblings and I do hope I won't get in trouble for writing some political sh*t.
I'm just a mere adult anyway.
What do I know, right?
=)

Wheee!! Big pay rise!

PUTRAJAYA: The two-year compulsory housemanship for doctors now comes with a reward.

Effective Jan 1, those who complete their two-year housemanship will be automatically promoted from UD41 to UD44.

This means they will be taking home RM5,944.25, including allowances, compared with their present salary of RM3,768.39 with allowances.

The move will cost the government some RM1.7 million a year.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican said some 2,000 housemen who began service on Jan 1 would benefit from the new scheme.
Normally, doctors who complete their housemanship have to wait for six to eight years before they are promoted to UD44.

As for the some 7,000 doctors who are still in UD41, Dr Ismail said they would be promoted to UD44 with higher salaries, which would cost the government another RM9.8 million annually.

The government had approved the measure late last year, he said, but it was only finalised recently.

"Medical students were upset that they must serve a two-year compulsory housemanship upon graduation.

"But we had our reasons for implementing this."

The ministry's main aim was to improve the quality and competency of medical officers, especially their clinical skills.

He said the move was consistent with the Cabinet's decision, on Nov 21 last year, to increase the housemanship period from one year to two.

Dr Ismail said there were complaints about medical officers with a one-year housemanship. "Their standard of care was not up to mark."

Furthermore, he added, five per cent of the medical officers who underwent the one-year housemanship could not be registered as they did not fulfil relevant criteria.

"These doctors took a longer time to be registered," he said, adding that many who got through also felt ill-equipped when they were posted to rural areas.

"They had no confidence. With the two-year housemanship, doctors are exposed to a wide variety of cases, procedures and their clinical skills are enhanced."

Dr Ismail said specialists had been told to be fair, firm and strict with housemen and ensure that their training was structured and evaluated fairly.

He also pointed out that the ministry gave fair opportunities to all races where promotion was concerned.

Citing an example, he said, there were 2,085 specialists in government hospitals. Of these, 1,136 are Malays, 480 Chinese, 392 Indians and 21 from other races.

He added 55 per cent of the Malay specialists were in UD48, Chinese 23 per cent and Indians 18.2 per cent, while there were 58 per cent Malays, 21 per cent Chinese and 16 per cent Indians in UD54.

As for Special Grade C, Dr Ismail said 51.5 per cent were Malays, while 24 per cent were both Chinese and Indians.

"We encourage more Chinese and Indians doctors to specialise in family medicine."

Chinese and Indian doctors are seen mainly in internal medicine, general surgery, cardiology, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology.

Owh thank you thank you! Let's hope that after this they will give 2009 housemen a rise! =) Wohoooo! =)
For those who are not familiar with the pangkat-pangkat, ok, Houseman aka HO (right after graduated from medical school) is U41. This holds the lowest position in the pyramid. Previously, the freshly graduated doctors only had to be at the bottom skunk place for a year, but just like Tan Sri Merican mentioned above, with all the complaints from the senior MOs and specialist about the incompetency of junior MOs, they prolonged the time for the new doctors to be in the hell chamber. Finally, after 2 years of hard work and no play, the U41 people will be automatically upgraded to U44, which holds the title Medical Officer (MO). The reason why they will only start the rise in 2010 is because, the 2 years housemanship starts this year, and by 2010, THEY will become MOs...in other words, this rise is not for the current MOs...as for me, if I do well for my final professional paper early next year, I'll be a HO in 2009 and MO in 2011..=)

The Un-privatized Me

A few days back, I privatized this humble blog of mine. Not that I didn't want anyone to read it but it's just simply me, trying to decide if i should continue pouring my thoughts and report my daily escapades and publish it for the public to see or I should just stop. During that time while I was trying to make a decision, I decided to put it off the internet world for a while and set it as private. I was contemplating whether I should just delete this blog or let it be. Nak delete sayang....huhu..so private it was.
I realized it was time for me to regain my privacy when I no longer write straight from my heart, when I only write to please the readers (including and especially the silent ones), when I screen each and every word I typed in just so that it won't create drama or offend anyone unintentionally. It IS my world, my words, my thoughts.
Or so I think.
After a short while, I came to a conclusion. It is, after all, a BLOG. What's the point of me publishing entries if I was the only one reading it and what's blogging without getting feedback? Furthermore, to invite readers to my blog is very ma fan.
So here I am, still continue succumbing myself to blogging and tell you a story.
And hopefully, I won't change my mind about blogging yet again.
Cheers.

The Joker Is Dead.

In case you've been on the moon or living under the rock, I'm sure you have heard about the tragic death of Heath Ledger caused by drug overdose (yet to be confirmed by autopsy) two days ago. It took the whole world by surprise since unlike Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty, Heath is not known as his drug addiction; in fact, he is well known for his charismatic performances especially in the controversy-filled movie, The Brokeback Mountain. His most recent movie that has completed its shooting, The Dark Knight, will be out in a few months and I'll be sure to watch it. I've seen the movie stills and it looked great.
There is another tragic news in Hollywood...Many may not know who Brad Renfro was...he was this famous child star whom Didi Harun had the hugest crush on. He was found dead last week in his apartment, also due to drug overdose. He was 25. Sad sad. It almost seemed like it is a trend in Hollywood nowadays, and I just hope this "death-due-to-drug-overdose" fever won't catch on like the pregnancy fever that seemed to be spreading all over the Tinseltown. Everyone is pregnant nowadays....from Jamie Lynn Spears (that 16 years old Zoe 101) to Halle Berry to Jessica Alba. But that is another story.
The death of both Heath and Brad reminded me of how short life can be, and how precious the time we spent with out loved ones. And also, of course, their death gave the whole world the ultimate reminder and lesson, that is, the danger of drug abuse.
