Me Miss Me Didi

My favourite friend, Didi Harun's back (!!!) and I finally get to see her after so long!! the last time we saw each other was during Hari Raya last year...she did come back about 2 months ago but because it was only for four days, and I was having my exams (bleah~), we just couldn't find the time to meet up..
We went to KLCC on Saturday night and had dinner at California Pizza with Za, Dalia, Nurul, Ema, Tash, Irman and Pez...(scrumptious scrumptious) Somehow, coincidently, all of us wore a heart-shaped pendant that night...so sweet lah kan...huhu
The dinner was cut short because when we came it was already 9-ish and the restaurant closes at 1030...=( That means, our gossip session, our photo taking session and our bergelak ketawa session were cut short too....*tsk*tsk*
Didi will be in Malaysia for just a week..hopefully I'll get to see her again before she goes back to Jogja...I miss my Didi already!!! =(

Bye Kuala Kangsar

No more Kuala Kangsar...
=(
I can't believe I actually miss Kuala Kangsar...I don't miss the place, but I miss those days when my group and I were working on our projects there. Huhu...'Twas a really great experience.
During the 2nd week we were in KK, we had a few field visits and some were really really dull if if it weren't for my groupmates. Here's the summary of the final week in KK...

Monday
We went to Kicap Tamin factory...it was ok..I'm still kinda grossed out with the process of making the 'yummylicious' tauchu..the factory manager gave us all a cute miniature bottles of soy sauce each (didn't take any photo of the set tho')..we spent the rest of the afternoon helping the data management department key in the survey data into SPSS..a very tedious thing to do...

Tuesday

We went to Vector Control Unit to learn about how to control vectors (duh!) such as mosquitoes and flies...we learnt how to control the fogging machine...it was somewhat a boring field trip and everybody seemed agitated and just wanna leave early...that afternoon, one third of the group (those who has nothing to do, me included) followed the health inspectors of Kuala Kangsar for fogging somewhere in Sg Siput...the fogging session was boring cause the truck was moving at 5km/hr...the part where we took tons of photos at the bendang was fun..hehe

Wednesday
The day we saw how labu sayong (Perak's pride and joy vase) was made. There were also huge and weird looking vases(see photo)..some looked like coral reefs, a corn, the tree trunk...huhu..

Thursday

We had 2 field trips...in the morning we went to the stinky dumping site...it was...ugh...plain horrible..this dumping site is so much worse than any other dumping sites because they don't have the leachate pool to collect those stinky air sampah....so basically the area was surrounded by sampah yang berair....bleurgh~ The nauseating smell actually stayed on our clothes and even in Rinni's car...huhu..we went back and each of us bathe for at least half an hour to get rid of the smell..I did not take any photos..couldn't stand the smell..but I do have this photo of these 3 silly monkeys who managed to smile right in the middle of the dumping site..hehe..that afternoon we went to a furniture factory...fortunately, the trip was a brief one..we couldn't stand the amount of dust (from the timber that has been cut) we had to inhale and went into our eyes since they did not provide us with masks or goggles

Friday

The last day..I was busy the whole morning since I was in the farewell party team and Friday is farewell party day..the ceremony was simple and short..and the food we ordered from TNB caterer was good...went back to Ipoh straight after lunch and after a few hours in Ipoh (after a few hours of gossiping with Didi) I went back to PJ....wheeeeee

Next week is internetless week

It has been raining all day today.
And yesterday.
Sigh.
Remember in my post 2 days ago I said that I have to do my laundry? I did..and now it just won't dry off because of the rain. And worst of all, I'm going back to Kuala Kangsar in one hour...Looks like I have to bring only the important ones (jeans and big t-shirts) and since it is still a lil bit damp, I'll have to hang it somewhere...ugh...I prolly have to wash it again cause damp clothes will give out this weird smell after it has dried off... =(
*inhale*exhale*sabar*

P/S - Yayang, good luck and all the best for all of your papers this week...you've studied so hard and I'm sure you'll kick ass...love you!! =)

First week of CRP

I'm back in Ipoh for the weekend to wash my piles of clothes...the amount of clothes I used for a week in Kuala Kangsar is almost equivalent to two weeks in Ipoh...blame the hot and humid weather for it. I had to change my clothes 3 times a day, hence, now I have a mountain of clothes to wash.
For those who does not know what CRP is, it stands for Community Residency Programme, whereby we are being allocated to a certain place (Kuala Kangsar, Batu Gajah, or Taiping), 30 of us in each place, and we are supposed to do a household survey and study about the rural community there...such as, how much they spend on medications monthly, what kind of medications they prefer...either traditional or modern medicine, standard of living, diet...things like that. And we also have to do a thematic project where we have to come up with a study topic ourselves..my group decided to do a study on connections between BMI and school performance among primary school children. We went to schools and measure the students' BMI and interview the kids and it was really fun..it almost made me miss my primary school days...hehe
It really is an amazing and humbling experience to see and talk to the village people, how contented they are even though they only earn a few hundred monthly (ranging from RM100-RM500), and how friendly they are. I do have my own "kampung" in Kota Bahru and Batu Pahat but those are not "kampung" kampung. The one I went to was a real kampung...with chickens, cats, goats, cows everywhere...even pigs and turkeys were there too..hehe..
My group for the household survey consists of 3 people including me. The other two are Asma' and Izyan. This is my first time working with them, and I must say, it has been a blast...Asma' isn't really as innocent as she may seem and Izyan isn't really as quiet as he always appear to be...infact, these two are retards...they cracked jokes and they are very efficient as well..we finished 14 houses on the very first day (hehe...way more than other groups) and we managed to finished everything within 3 days...hehe..=p and since we completed the task early, the three of us went to Sungai Perak and we went for a boat ride that cost us 80 cents (wohoo!! cheap!!) just for the fun of it..we acted like a real Sakai and took endless photos..
Since we are studying about public health, we have to go for field visits and this week we went to Kampung Orang Asli, Lembaga Pembersihan Air, and Infoternak. We went to kampung orang asli to see the water pump they use as their daily water supply. It is very rare to see a water pump these days and we are kinda lucky to get to see one. At Lembaga Pembersihan Air we saw how they clean the water before it is sent to the houses. My favourite is Infoternak. I finally get to see real ostriches! hehe..I even hugged a kid (baby goat) and pumped goat's milk..I'll get the photos from Hidayah and will post it later.
It has been a busy week for all of us...our daily routine starts at 7am and finishes at around 11pm..we have finished our household and thematic survey and now we have our hands full with reports to write and a "journal" to publish and a presentation to prepare by the end of this month.

Flat broke, not complaining

I'm not a big fan of blogger.com at this mo'..=( it has been almost impossible to log on to this website for few days thus, I couldn't update my blog..

These past few days were great, awesome, horrible, fun, all rolled into one. Firstly, about the exam. Well, the paper was OK I guess..no recycled past years questions came out..brand new tricky MCQs were asked..and the SAT wasn't that bad either. My clinical (or practical) exam was HORRIBLE!!! I would not go into details but the patient which my examiner signed for me to clerk was not co-operative and he was really mean towards me...he yelled and shouted at me..and I couldn't get adequate history and info from him. Luckily my provisional diagnosis was correct...I took my examiner to the patient and he witnessed how uncooperative the patient was, he let me off the hook..but since I couldn't perform the physical examination (the patient refused to let me do the examination on him), the examiner asked me tons and tons of questions about other surgical stuff..and seriously, it was tough..but I've tried my best..so let's just hope for the best, ey?

I went back to PJ on Thursday evening and of course, the weekend was greattttt!! I totally forgotten how depressed I was because of the exam once I reached home. Right after I entered the house, I called up my younger sister (Farah). She wasn't home at that time..she was "happy" that I was home (I know you were estatic Far..admit it..hehe) and we made plans to go out for dinner and watch a mid night movie...it was either Shrek3 or Pirates, but since there was no more tickets for Shrek, we settled for Pirates instead. The movie was not that bad...but I don't like the ending!! *Not gonna spoil for those of you who haven't seen it* hehe..I just don't like the fact that he's gonna spend 10 years at the ocean and only ONE miserable day on the dry land...that means, let's say if they were 20-ish, and they'll live until 70-ish...they can only see each other FIVE times in their lifetimes!! That's just plain crazy...
On Friday I went out with Dalia!! ehehe..it was fun..we window shopped at Cineleisure and I happily made a few purchases..hehe..bought a necklace and earrings at fourskin..huhu..and then we went to Ah Cheng Laksa to try out their, obviously, laksa. For those who have not try their laksa, seriously, you should! Both of us weren't that hungry at that time but we managed to stuffed in one whole big bowl of laksa assam...it was really yummylicious!
Went to Centrepoint later that night to meet Lyana cause I bought 2 cropped cardigan from her Uberlove brand (see photo)...it really is a bargain! 2 cropped cardi for RM64!! hehe...
It was a busy, fun-filled Saturday for me...I woke up early cause Boyfriend called, talked to him for almost one hour..and that afternoon Farah and I went to Sungei Wang Plaza..it was a HUGE mistake to drive to Sungei Wang on a weekend..Farah wanted to take the LRT but I was too lazy and I thought it'll be a hassle if it rained that day..so I took the car and drove there..to find a parking space was crazyly hard and luckily after about 20mins we went round and round, there was a empty parking space (it was for the lorries..but heck, it was Saturday afternoon...there wouldn't be any loading and unloading, would it? =p) It has been ages since the last time I went to Sungei Wang and both of us went crazy just by looking at the bags and shoes there (it was kinda hard to find nice clothes there..you really have to rummage through)...I couldn't help myself but I just had to purchase a few things..bought a bag, tights, shoes, and well...intimates...hehe..
Went back around 3 and straight away went for lunch with Mama...we went to Burger King and I saw Zaza and Luqman...We came home around 630pm and around 8pm I went to OU to see the girls (and boys) in OU and had dinner with them at Delicious/Ms.Read...dinner was awesome...most of us were there...and of course, they came in pairs...=( my date for the night was Zaza...hehe..Irman couldn't make it cause he had to work (yes! Irman is a working man now!) we took the compulsory photos and since everyone was either tired or had other plans (except for me and Zaza), we went back early..
I was on my way to send Zaza home when Tasha called her and asked us to come to Zeta Bar at KL Sentral's Hilton for her father's birthday...we were reluctant at first cause we were not wearing the 'appropriate' attire but at the same time we were excited since we've never been there and this is a perfect reason and perfect time to check the place out. Both of us went and we had a whale of a time there...thanx, Tash and fam =)
I did absolutely nothing on Sunday morning til afternoon...Kak Anim (elder sister) and Mama went to KL to pick up the wedding invitation cards...I saw the cards already and it looked really pretty! Kak Anim was a bit pissed off with the printer cause a few cards have to be rejected since there were smudges and tears..luckily they gave her a few extra cards in case she needs it..
Came back to Ipoh that evening and it was raining heavily...it rained all the way from KL to Ipoh..Community Residency Programme (CRP) is starting tomorrow and I'll be in a different group from Didi, Saadah, Ummu and the rest...fortunately Puteri's in my group...at least ada gang...hehe..
And as a result from my excessive expenditure, I'm totally broke and it is only the first week of the month..*sigh*

Panic Attack

Tomorrow is the exam day.
I almost had a panic attack..I just realized just how much more I have to read..But screw it lah..I'll just do the past years questions since from my experiences for my medicine and OBGYN end of posting exams, they actually recycle the questions...hopefully they'll do the same for my surgery exam!
I had an awesome lunch today...Went out for lunch with Adan's parents, Nana (his youngest sister), his Ayah Lang, the cool Mak Lang, and their two kids, Arshad and the adorable Alisha. His parents are here for the weekend cause they're going to attend a wedding here...and they actually spent some time and visited me today! Sgtlah sweet..=) I dragged Saadah (my housemate) along for lunch with them since only both of us are here in Ipoh this weekend (the rest went back to KL). The family is uber sweet and funny...we had ikan bakar and sambal udang and etc..yummy!! =)
Ok...gotta study..wish me luck, peeps! Takuttttttttt...

My royal encounter

I met the Sultan and Sultanah of Perak today..hehe
This morning was my college's open day and also the official launching of the college after it has been re-named to Royal College of Medicine Perak (previously it was Perak College of Medicine)...and being a Royal College it only make sense if the royal family members come to the college and launch it themselves. I was looking forward to see the newly wed Raja Muda Perak Raja Nazrin (owhh..the handsome prince of Perak) and his beautiful wife but they canceled at the last minute. Prolly off for honeymoon or something..Sultan and Sultanah of Perak were there and so was Raja DiHilir Perak.
At first I thought this whole perasmian thing and all the protocols are gonna bore me to death but hell, was I wrong. Ummu and I..well, we were being us...we went to the clinical skills lab where the exhibition was to bug Didi and some other friends of ours..we were not supposed to be there at that time since the Sultan will come and visit the place in 10mins and only the presenters were allowed to be there. We thought of going there only for a little while..but after a few minutes we were there, the room was quarantined and no one can go in or out cause the Sultan was already on his way up..so Ummu and I had no choice but to just pretend to be one of the presenters..hehe..we joined Taufiq and Alwi's counter cause it was the easiest presentation ('How to take blood pressure'..haha). When the Sultan came, Ummu and I tried our best to hide cause we weren't prepared to explain to him about anything and we don't even know how to angkat sembah..see..Didi and I were hiding behind Taufiq in this photo..hahaha..and just look at Ummu's(pink tudung) and Farah's(blue tudung) face...they were about to laugh..hehe=p the Sultan is a funny man..he made a few funny remarks about the CPR dummy and about the ECG machine..maybe being a royalty and all the protocols does not make him uptight after all..
After checking out the presentations, the Sultan (I don't know how else to address him here..His Majesty? His Royal Highness?) went to the foyer for picture taking session. They took a few formal photos with him and after they were done, Sultan asked his royal photographer (?? is that what we call his personal photographer?) to take some informal photos of him and the students..hehe..Mesra rakyat gitu..haha
All the male college staffs (including the lecturers) wore black suits with songkok while the ladies wore matching baju kurung. Here's a photo with my surgery lecturers..Mr. Wong (Surgeon..btw, we address surgeons as Mr. not Dr...don't ask me why) and Dato' Subra (Plastic Surgeon)..hehe..it was funny to see how awkward they look with songkok on..awkward but cute eh..=)

So I Think I Can Hustle

Well, well, well. The previous entry was rather sad and gloomy. I'm no longer in that mood..currently I'm stressing out because I'll be sitting for my end of posting exam next week. Even though I have exams every two months, I'm still not used to it. I still procrastinate and not study til the very last minute, and freak out the night before the exam. Bleah~ Btw, I'll prolly elaborate more on my last entry later..hehe
The other YKJ group (YKJ stands for Yeoh Khuan Joo...the name of the street where our houses are situated) joined a line dance class every Sunday, since last month and they asked us (my housemates and I) to join the class as well...and we did! ok..they did..I didn't. At least not yet..hehe..the class will be held every Sunday morning at 7.30 AM..theehee..exactly. Even though I've never been to the classes before, I've learn the steps from Ummu and it was easy! I've learnt how to chacha, twist, and do a cowboy hustle..cool ey? Ummu and Rinni are such great dancers, they can do that Shakira's famous hips movement..you know..like the one in her vid Hips Don't Lie..*jealous* =) As much as I love doing those line dance stuff..the dance that I really would like to learn is salsa..it is such a romantic, beautiful-almost-dirty type of dance...sigh...just when oh when will I have the time to learn it...
I was chatting with my younger sister last night and she told me her great news. She has been chosen to receive a scholarship from Mara to further her studies in US of A. She's gonna take up actuarial science, just like my elder sister, Hanim. I'm so happy for her...she has been worrying about what she's gonna do next and where she's going. Her SPM results was fantabulous but she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has applied for everything under the sun..filled up every form she can get her hands on, just to make sure she wouldn't miss out on anything. So far, she has been offered to do matriculation in Melaka and also Economics in UIA. She rejected KMM and was thinking of going to UIA but she has some reservations about it. Farah was so worried that she might not get Mara scholarship, she was even considering to apply for MAS scholarship and become a pilot girl. Huhu..hard to imagine..But Alhamdulillah, now she has nothing to worry about..=) and to Farah (If you're reading lah) : Congrats, sis..Make us proud. You know what happen to those people..don't become like them, ok? You know what I'm talking about kan...Me love you. =)

Have you ever...

Have you ever felt lonely yet you were surrounded by people?
I have.
Why? Beats me...I don't know..I have mix feelings right now. About what? I don't know either.
Talking to him and watching downloaded series are keeping me sane currently.
I need to get away from everything.
Quick.
