The one with the aching feet

My feet still aching. Why?
I went for a shopping spree, that's why!
The whole family went shopping at Jalan TAR and Sogo for kain hunting yesterday for Kanim's wedding. Baba and Farah went back early cause Baba was too tired from waiting for us to choose and Farah had something else to do at home. The last time I went to Jalan TAR was ages ago. We went to every single textile shops (Gulati's, Maya, Euro Moda, etc) and there were TONS of kain to choose from! All three of us rambang mata and we didnt know which to buy. It took us the whole day to finally buy something for everyone (from 10am til 6pm). Ngeh.
The theme colour for our family is gold (anything ranging from brownish gold, light gold, yellowish gold). Farah and I will be wearing the same type of kebaya but different design. The materials look awesome and I can't wait for it to be ready..hehe. It'd better turn out to be nice cause it has cost mama a bomb! It'll be the most expensive kebaya I'll ever own, I guess..huhu..
The only person that hasn't had his material ready is Adan. My mom wanted to get the material for his baju melayu yesterday but didn't cause she wasn't sure he'll like that shade of gold or not, so she decided to wait for him to come back. Hopefully his baju melayu sempat ready before the wedding. (Hint: Cepatlah balik!! =p)
We went back around 630pm and just when I thought I can rest and put my feet up, Mama told me that we have to go to my cousin's wedding (which I absolutely forgot) in Cheras. The wedding was beautiful..the weather and environment was great too ('twas a poolside wedding reception, under millions of twinkling stars), and not forgetting, the food...it was delicious!
Since yesterday I was super busy, today I decided to just stay at home and be lazy and pamper my aching feet by putting it in nice, comfortable, warm water. =)

L.O.V.E

Love feels no burden, regards not labors, strives toward more than it attains, argues not of impossibility, since it believes that it may and can do all things. Therefore it avails for all things, and fulfills and accomplishes much where one not a lover falls and lies helpless.
Thomas p Kempis 1379-1471

The moment you have in your heart this extraordinary thing called love and feel the depth, the delight, the ecstasy of it, you will discover that for you the world is transform.
Jiddu Krishnamurti 1895-1986, Indian Theosophist

True love is like ghosts, which everybody talks about and few have seen.
Francois De La Rochefoucauld 1613-1680, French Classical Writer

Love means the body, the soul, the life, the entire being. We feel love as we feel the warmth of our blood, we breathe love as we breathe air, we hold it in ourselves as we hold our thoughts. Nothing more exists for us.
Guy De Maupassant 1850-1893, French Writer

These are a few beautiful romantic love quotes I found on the internet written by people who experienced love a few centuries ago; long before we do. They have their own interpretation and idea about what love is.
I have my own interpretation of love. For me love just is. It just is and there is absolutely nothing anyone can say that can make it go away because it is the point of why we are here. It is the highest point and once you are up there, you're there forever.
Love makes heavy things light. It is the morphine for all kind of pain. But for the most part, love is a recognition, an opportunity to say, 'There is something about you I cherish'.

Love, it doesn't make the world go round, it makes the ride worthwhile.

And, yes, I am a hopeful romantic.

Konvicted - the review

I'm currently listening to-

Konvicted by Akon

It's not that bad really, kinda great to listen to. I thought it's gonna be full of smack that here and there but heck, was I wrong. There's r&b, hip hop, ballad and even raggae.
On the almost ‘rock/pop’ ballad “Never Took The Time”, Akon eases your ears for a few minutes with some real melodic and mellow singing over guitars. In fact, I think he sounds better on that kind of vibe than he does on hip-hop joints.
On the track following that ,“Mama Africa”, we hear a reggae-vibed joint. It’s a good, old-type reggae music, like the Bob Marley days, not like the commercialized, much altered reggae songs out now. I bet Sanjeev will love this song (he's a Marley lover..an avid fan)
I wouldn’t even classify this album as a hip-hop or an R&B album, it is somewhere in between that.

Bye bye, Taiping. Hello again, Ipoh.

We have successfully completed our posting in Taiping last Friday, Alhamdulillah. I have gained a lot of great experiences which I know will come in handy when I graduate later and I've met a few great OBGYN specialists we have here in Malaysia. I will miss the doctors and nurses there (and also Doli's kuey tiaw) but I will definitely not miss the place I stayed and the hecticness of my timetable.
My new posting, Primary Care Medicine, will be starting tomorrow. This posting is gonna be for 4 weeks..I'll be going to Klinik Kesihatan Gunung Rapat, KK Simee, and Dr.Victor's clinic...I honestly don't know what to expect and I'm just hoping for the best. Ummu however, has told me the important things that I should know about PCM posting..u know, the real important stuff like the details about which doc will be strict and which will be the one that is not so strict. She also told me about the medical assistant that flirts with everyone and loves to disturb girls...well..shall watch out for that MA and stay away from him..geli. ngeh.
Btw, not only my house in Ipoh has reached civilization for having internet connection since last year, now we have upgraded ourselves one step futher...we now have wireless internet connection..hehehehe...soooo exciting isn't it..=p boyfriend said that it's a bad idea cause now everyone will be in their own room and stay up all night online-ing...hehe..wanted to argue but he does has a point. Now since each one of us owned a laptop, and a webcam (to chat with our boyfriends who are million miles away), everyone will be sitting quitely in the room. Didi came up with an idea to make sure we spend some quality "family time" everyday whereby she'll just switch off the power source for the reuter so that everyone will come to the living room and watch TV together and spend time together..haha..things internet can do to us eh?

And that thing went round and round

I went to a funfair in Taiping!! haha..it has been way too long since I last went to a funfair...but trust me, this one, it was lame. The rides are all the same..it goes up and down and round and round.. and of course me, being a chicken, didn't go on any of the rides there (makes me feel like my life's worth a few ringgit aje) but I did play this game, where I had to catch a plastic duck using a net and I 'won' a lame, stinky YOYO! we only spent around one hour there..those who played the rides (Isma, Rina, Alyn n Micha..ok basically everyone except me..hehe) had their stomach flipped and flopped and they felt really nauseous so we decided to go back early. Saadah n Puteri didn't join us cause they were busy waiting for deliveries in the labour room while Su Tein and Liyana went back to Ipoh. The plan was rather spontaneous..we were bored at home, with no TV, no radio, no more dvds to watch, so we decided to do something, and funfair it was..=p
I'm starting to adapt myself and starting to accept Taiping the way it is...tapi it's a bit too late lah since I'll be leaving (for good, I hope) this coming Thursday and continue on with my next posting. I'm not saying that I like Taiping but I guess it's not as bad as I think it is. The drivers and the roads still sucks la..I guess before this I wasn't fond of my posting in Taiping due to the unbelievably busy schedule I have and the fact that I'm living in a small, furniture-less house with other 9 girls did not help either..but don't get me wrong..the girls are great..no catfights or what-so-ever going on..it's just that 1 toilet for 10 girls just doesn't work for me...
I did a tutorial with Dr.Shahila on Tuesday and it was ok...she did scold me about something but it was totally my fault...maybe she ain't that bad after all eh? She and Dr Norlia made me promise that I'll conduct at least one delivery by the end of this weekend..hmm..tatau la..hopefully sempat...
Owhhh...by the by, my cinta got a new haircut! I haven't seen it but I bet he looks awesome and I can't wait!! hehehe...it's about time pun u cut your long 'locks'..=p haha

Back to reality

I'm back in Ipoh already!! aiyomaaaaa....don't like lah! =(
I had a great holiday I must say. Went out with most of the people I've been missing, watched a movie (well, I wanted to watch all of the latest movies but due to "time constrain" and also kemalasan, I only managed to watch Norbit..hehe), went to a bbq party (thanx Hafiz for inviting), ate good food, sat in front of the tv and watched everything the whole day, went to a warehouse sale and other shops that were on sale (with beloved Dalia and her sister, Dalia and also with my sister Farah), took photos (as usual...the cameras should permanently be attached to our palms), and just be lazy...great isn't it?
But now I'm back to my usual routine and I'm dreading over the fact that I have to go back to that humid, boring place called Taiping tomorrow morning...bleah~
Can't wait until the next 2 weeks to be over...
Sigh.

The laziness in me

I just love being me right now..being lazy and do absolutely nothing everyday..hehe...haven't done that for quite some time and i'm enjoying and cherishing every moment of it! =) I just love holidays..
Went out with Zaza, Hudaa and Azlina yesterday to watch Norbit and lunch at OU. The movie was ok...it was that typical Eddie Murphy movie...the usual "fat" costume with Eddie Murphy in it...the usual "more-than-one-character" Eddie Murphy movie. I had fun and a good laugh though.
We went to Johnny's for lunch and it was great..we ate a lot! and of course, I had my must-eat honeydew special..hehe...I really enjoyed myself...great movie, great company, and even better gossips..hehe..=p Hudaa introduced me to this finger lickin' good dessert..it's a warm soy drink with glutenous rice with lotus in it..seriously it's yummy! a must try for all =)
Things like this make me doesn't want to go back to Perak...things like hanging out with friends, watching movies, eating out, and do absolutely nothing at home..=( but well, I know, I need to focus and concentrate on my studies kan..that's why I cherish and savor each and every moment of it =) and I know I have goals to achieve and that' why I'll start studying tomorrow..mark my word..tomorrow.. =)

The 2nd week

I’m in PJ!! Hehe…back for a week for Chinese New Year holiday..YAY!! Been way too long since I last had my holiday…but this time I’m “determined” to study and finish up at least one book…I really should anyway because a week after the holiday I’ll be presenting to this notorious OBGYN specialist and she’s known for her fierce-ness among the students and other hospital staffs..sheesh..

I don’t have any internet connection in Taiping so I’m basically not in sync with the tech right now..the civilization hasn’t reach my place yet I guess..and even it’s already there I don’t think I’ll have the time to go online anyway..

This past one week has been quite stressful..I had to deal with the busy-ness of my timetable, running here and there to get my log book signed (I have to see procedures and cases to get the log book complete), and I had to deal with childish behaviors among those who were supposed to be “grown up men”. Unnecessary and little things were brought up by them and it has affected the whole group. It has brought a negative vibe among the group members.

I have watched a few more deliveries and episiotomy sutures (the suture after delivery at you-know-where) and I even helped in an operation! Hehe..not exactly and operation lah..more like a procedure done in operation theater…Dr Ng asked me to assist him in that particular procedure and was I excited and scared at the same time! =P I was kinda shocked when he asked me to assist him but I agreed anyway…it’s not always that a 3rd year medical student get to assist in such procedure…but as I was washing and sterilizing my hands I was having tachycardia and many things were in my head…what if I pull the thing to hard…what if I lose my balance…what if…what if…what if…
The what ifs went on and on in my head but it quickly disappeared when I actually stood beside the operation table and helped with the procedure according to Dr Ng’s instructions. With blood dripping all over my hands (I wore gloves of course) and a few splashes of blood on my arm I managed to stand still and balanced my hands and body and successfully assist the medical officer..wooohooo
This is a picture before we went into the operation theathre…hehe..sempat lagi kan?

Went to The Curve last night with Dalia, Zaza, Adeq, Mel, Tasha, Sakinah, Haikal, and Nizam…we celebrated Dalia’s birthday at Italiannese and it was a blast! I finally get to see some familiar friendly faces I’ve been missing so much…got to laugh with the people who has the same wavelength with me…I needed that so much just to let go of all the stress I’ve been carrying these past few weeks. =(
We had wayyy too much pasta and other Italian food and we drank a loooooot of ice lemon tea…we took tons of pictures (as usual)…hehe..and since we are all on holiday for a week, I’m looking forward for our usual movie marathon and eating-and-pigging-out nights…(of course, I’ll study before and after I go out..hehe)..

This past week I have been discussing with a medical officer about my future in medical field and my future as a doctor…he told me about the busy-ness of a houseman officer so that I’ll be mentally and physically prepared for it…he also explained to me about OBGYN since I told him OBGYN is one of the specialty I’m thinking about joining…and let’s just say I’ve changed my mind. I don’t think I can cope with endless “on-calls” and clinic hours..and labour room duties…I would rather spend time at home with family (current and future mind you)..and of course, with Cinta. =p The MO told me that it’s a good thing that I already have a rough idea what I want to take up after my housemanship cause I’ll have a target and I’ll work hard for it…haha..aiming is easy isn't it...those examinations are the hard part...bleah~
Basically I’m now thinking of specializing in medicine and become physician or maybe a paediatrician..=) but of course, I have to pass my professional papers and my housemanship first..hehe..wish me luck peeps! =)

Taiping & OBGYN

Ok..if I had to sum up my week in just one word, it'll be..."Omigod"..yeah..that's 3 but with that kinda spelling I'll consider it as one.
My group and I went to Taiping on Monday afternoon, 4th of February after our briefing with Prof Azhar in the morning. We went there with high spirits..but our high spirits were pulled down in no time after we saw the house they (the college) rented for us to stay for the whole month we are in Taiping. The girls' house (which is the house I'm staying =p) is just toooooo small to fit 10 students. They rented a single storey terrace house, 3 bedrooms, one freakin' toilet & shower, and a tiny weenie kitchen. Each bedroom is shared by 3-4 students and they did not provide us with study tables, chairs, and cupboards...just 2 sets of double decker beds in each room. Imagine..10 girls in a house like that..we all do know what it will equals to don't we? it will obviously can lead to silly catfights and b****ness isn't it? and imagine...ONE toilet and ONE shower for TEN girls? seriously?
The boys' house is even worse..they rented a double storey house for them but there are 14 of them that will be staying in that house since the male students from paediatrics posting will be joining us in Taiping next week. The landlord provided them with SIX beds! half of them have to sleep on the floor!
Seriously I have no idea what the college administration were thinking when they signed the agreement with the landlord..my groupmates and I did complaint to the administration and persuade them to at least rent another house so that we'll be split into 2 subgroups..but til now there's no actions taken..humbug.

About my OBGYN posting..
Totally totally different from my previous posting (medicine)...it is so hectic, I don't have time to sleep, to study, to eat. We have to be there at the hospital by 730am to follow ward rounds by the houseman officer and follow another round with the medical officer and the specialist. We'll finish all our classes by 5pm and after that we are supposed to clerk cases if we are not on call for any ward (gynae, or labour)..usually if we are not on call, we'll be home by 8 but if we are on call, it can be up til 12midnight..
And to make matter worse for me, my new housemates are really really hardworking that I felt guilty everytime I went to sleep. They'll still be up when I went to bed and already up and showered when I woke up the next morning. I have no idea when they actually go to bed. It's a kind of pressure that I don't like but I know it's good for me cause I'll force myself to study more..
I'm so lucky to have a wonderful and understanding boyfie like beloved Adan..he never whines or complaints or sulk about not being able to talk to me as much as we used to and as much as we would like to..sorry yang..will make it up to u soon k ;)

Whatever it is, it's way too early to judge OBGYN and to decide whether I still want to persue my medical carrier as a gynae later on in life.
Taiping is alright but I caught myself missing Ipoh sometimes (something I never thought would happen..bleah~).

A wedding, An engagement, and such

*This entry was written on 3rd of Feb but due to some error, I only manage to upload it today =)

My Saturday was filled with ceremonies. Yeap..2 of 'em. .1 engagement and another was a wedding ceremony.
Ewa and Eski are married! hehe..congratulations to both of them..=) I'm really happy for the two of you..I went for nikah session yesterday night and it was just the sweetest thing. People were shedding off their tears over how sweet the ceremony was. Ewa is the first one to get hitched in her circle of friends and I can't help to wonder who'll be the first one among MY circle of friends..it could be just about anyone..will it be Zaza? Didi? Dalia? Mel? Tasha? Adeq? Ema? Nurul?...and the list goes on and on..heck, it could even be me =p
Earlier yesterday, my one and only big sister got engaged to her long time boyfriend. They have been in a relationship for almost 10 years and now they finally decided to get engage =) Looks like I'm gonna have a brother pretty soon..hehe..the wedding is set on the 31st of August this year, InsyaAllah. I'm kinda excited to help her choose her wedding dress and all the tiny details. The engagement ceremony went well..and well, I literally ate like a horse yesterday..the foods and kuih mueh Kak Ijan and Mama prepared were just amazingly delicious..hehe..
I went to One Utama with Mama just now. It has been way too long since the last time both of us went shopping together. She bought for me 3 pairs of spankin' new shoes (for me to wear in Taiping Hospital) and 2 tops..we went back with a big smile plastered on me face..=p
I will be going to Taiping soon. Kinda excited but I really don't know what to expect..and I don't want to put any high expectations, really..
